Welcome to by Amalie. My name is Anna Amalie, I was born and grew up in Denmark. Later I fell in love, and is now living, in Israel. Here I normally go by Anna, since having two names is not that common around here.

I started by Amalie in order to bring high quality yarn to Israel. During my studies at Shenkar, I found it very hard to buy yarn, that could live up to the quality that I wanted, so I had family and friends bring me yarn when they came to visit. With the Corona this was not longer an option, so I started playing with yarn and leftover dye from my study years. Around that time I also started a small knitting group in Shoham and here there was an interest. After moving to Pardes Hana-Karkur I ordered my first proper large shipment of yarn and by Amalie has slowly been growing since.

I have also started my monthly meetings, which I enjoy enormeously. There truly is nothing like the knitting community. Everyone is welcome, we all speak yarn and there is so much inspiration to be found.

As I dyer, I both dye with non-toxic powder dyes, commonly known as acid dyes, and with natural dyes from Eucalyptus trees we have at the end of our small road. The water I use during the dyeing process is recycled several times, and also use water collected from our drying machine and aircondition. All in order to make the least impact as possible on the environment around me.
